Motivate Yourself On Monday Using These 6 Crazy Ways

Business Life Skills 4 min read

Imagine this; you're yet again midway through a Monday and you haven't really done anything yet because you cannot motivate yourself.

Isn't it the same for a lot of people? Aren't a lot of us mere mortals who do not plan out every inch of the day and have to answer to a boss who makes us do nonsense?

If you're someone who likes to be on top of things but this Monday got you a little down, then don't worry; then there is hope.

I see too many people fretting about their mammoth to-do lists, endless reminders, skipped lunches, long hours and it has to stop!

All you have to do is be open, willing to try something new and then do something a little radical - take a small amount of action.

Here's my 6 crazy ways to get yourself motivated on a Monday.

1. What would a super-hero do?

I often think to myself; what would Superman do in this situation? How would he approach it? What if I could really fly? How would my laser eyes evaporate this problem?

So why not act like a superhero and create a solution for anything!

Be a little silly, a little crazy and see how you feel.

2. Use a mirror or selfie to create quirky poses

Can you get creative with yourself? Why not look in the mirror and pull funny faces and talk to yourself until you know without hesitation that you are funny to look at!

Or create weird poses in the mirror or selfies and then look back on them.

Nobody needs to see you doing them if you're shy but it will sure as hell make you laugh a little and get focused on whats next.

3. Write down everything you need to do on a postage stamp.

Yep I know. This one is tough because I'm guessing if your to-do or must-do list is as large as mine, it probably won't fit in even a small encyclopaedia (look it up kids, they used to print them).

So should you bother? Well if you want to motivate yourself; Yes!

Try seeing how much you get on a 2cm by 1cm piece of paper and then throw it away!

Now spend exactly 30 seconds ruminating over exactly what is the number one priority task today that if it didn't happen, the world would implode and life as we know Jim would be over.

Take that task and crack on with it until you've either finished it or got 70% of it done ready to complete tomorrow.

4. Create a wallpaper or screensaver that shrieks YOU!

You know the score.

There are literally dozens of quotes and lines to motivate you online.

But which ones really get you going?

Do you hate 'life is like a box of chocolates' line but secretly love 'that's what I do: I drink and I know things'. Do you love Gary Vee's 'stop focusing on dumb shit' but hate Tony Robbins 'Every problem is a gift–without problems we would not grow'.

Whatever you resonate with, choose a few of these quotes and then get to work creating something epic that will inspire you, motivate you and keep you on point.

5. Take a big fricking break. Tune out.

Unless you've become a robot, it is nigh on impossible to work straight through from 9-5 or 10-6 or 8-8. IMPOSSIBLE.

So ensure that every 90 minutes to 120 minutes you completely tune out for 10 minutes.

Walk away from your desk, go and get a beverage, chat with a colleague if you want, nip outside for a walk, go and lie down in a corner, meditate, do some squats.

I want you to be able to motivate yourself on will so this will help massively.

sun is optional but very much recommended

It may be tempting to take that little hunk of plastic with you but avoid the temptation.

Leave your phone behind and be free from any distractions for at least 10 minutes.

You'll return back to your work and tasks with renewed vigour.

6. Get Your Stereo Pumped Up and Dance!

It's true.

Music gets your brain rewired and changes your state in an instant.

So go get your headphones or visit the company juke box and blast out a good tune or two. If you feel your less motivated or focused, then its been scientifically proven that you can recharge yourself by moving from a low energy state to a massive high energy state.

Try AC DC's 'Back in Black' for a bit of office rock as recommended by friends over at Commitaction. Motivate yourself!

Enjoy the change and change the way you feel

So now there's nothing to stop you; only yourself.

Get motivated and get focused.

Go crush those dreams.
